Sunday Outing

Today, Sunday, is the last day of our July 4th long weekend. In the morning we went to Salinas, which is about 10 miles away, for a visit and little shopping. Salinas is the "salad bowl" of the US as it produces salads and many kind of vegetables for the entire nation and the rest of the world. The vegetable field stretches for miles and the workers mostly came from Mexico. In two weeks time, Salinas will be having Rodeo festival and also CCR is scheduled to perform here. We planned to attend both events.

At noon, we went for a drive on the 17 Mile scenic circuit and once again dropped by at Pebble Beach Golf Link. Later in the afternoon we visited the famous Monterey Aquarium. Here they have on display many kind of marine life and the highlight of the exhibition is on seahorse. I learnt that Seahorses are the only animals in the entire animal kingdom in which the male has babies. The female seahorse deposits the eggs into the male's small pouch, these eggs are then fertilized by the male.

Over at Monterey today, there was "motorbike fiesta". Today Monterey hosted the US Grand Prix for motorcycles at the famous circuit called Laguna Seca. The whole town is overwhelmed with motorcycles, from sport bikes to racers and off course the famous of all, the parade of Harley Davidsons.

Will be posting photographs soon.
